Candle Safety Tips
Never leave a burning candle unattended!

  • Keep burning candles away from children and pets.
  • Do not place near flammable objects such as curtains, walls, etc.
  • Keep candle free of wick trimmings, matches, or other foreign matter that could be a fire hazard.
  • Place on a heat resistant level surface.
  • Avoid burning in drafts such as open windows, ceiling fans, etc.
  • Keep wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times to avoid carbon build up.
  • Allow candle to cool before trimming wick or relighting.

    Container/Jar Candles
  • Do not burn a candle in a container that is chipped or cracked.
  • Do not allow candle to burn completely down to the bottom of container. Discontinue using candle when about 1/2 inch of wax remains.
  • Do not allow flame to touch sides of container.
  •  Containers may become hot, handle with care.  If you have to move one, use hot pad holders or just wait for it to cool!
  •  Allow candle to cool before replacing lid on jar.

    Tarts or Melts:
  • Only use an approved tart warmer for your melts.
  • Never leave warmer unattended, especially if using a burning candle to heat it.
  • Keep warmer in an area that is away from children and pets.
  • Warmer trays may become hot, handle with care.  If you have to move it, use hot pad holders or wait for it to cool!

    More Helpful Hints:
  • Burn candles at least 1 hour for each inch of it's diameter. This allows the flame time to melt the wax to the outer edge. Burning less time will cause the candle to core burn down the middle leaving wax left on the sides of the jar and decreasing your burn time.
  • Always trim the wick to ¼ inch.  Using a wick trimmer is a great item to have for trimming those hard to reach wicks.
  •  To avoid fading of candles, do not leave them in direct sunlight, under fluorescent lighting or spotlights.
  • To extinguish a candle, it is best to use a candle snuffer.  If you blow them out, do it gently so you don’t cause the wax to splash up.
  • If candle is burning unevenly, the wick may have moved to one side or another, use a knife to gently push wick back to the center.
  • Soy wax candles have a tendency to “frost” or have a mottled affect, especially on the tinted candles.  This is a natural process of the soy wax and will not affect the burning process or the fragrance of the candle.  In fact, it gives a unique and interesting look to them.
