We have always enjoyed the glow and fragrance of candles in our home, but having lived in Massachusetts for many years, that passion grew after our many visits to the Yankee Candle Co. So much so, that I purchased stock in that company years ago, but after their recent buy-out in 2007, decided it was time to “try my hand” at candle making as a hobby, and so Sweet Briar Candles became a reality in 2008.
I was fortunate enough to work with a young lady, Kim Shaw, who makes candles in large amounts for school and local fundraisers. She taught me skills necessary for candle making and from that, we have expanded our techniques to individualize our candles to your specific order.
We have also established the SSgt Richard K. Metro College Scholarship Memorial Fund in our son’s name and 30% of all our sales will go into this fund.
We take an enormous pride in creating our products, and hope that you'll find something in our selection line that you like.
Our Mission
To make each candle by hand and to pride ourselves on providing our customers with the best quality products and personal service available. We also would like to present a scholarship award to as many college students, who excel academically, as possible. Our hope is to award our first recipient in the Fall of 2009 and, with your help, continue to grow to where the award values and the number of annual recipients, will become limitless
